IMD issues orange, yellow alerts in Kerala; heavy rains expected in multiple districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued multiple rain alerts across Kerala for the next five days, warning of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts.
Orange alert – Very heavy rainfall (115.6–204.4 mm in 24 hours)
- August 17 (Sunday): Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
- August 18 (Monday): Kannur, Kasaragod
Alerts indicate isolated very heavy rainfall in these districts.
Yellow alert – Heavy rainfall (64.5–115.5 mm in 24 hours)
- August 17 (Sunday): Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode
- August 18 (Monday): Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad
- August 19 (Tuesday): Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
- August 20 (Wednesday): Kannur, Kasaragod
Alerts indicate isolated heavy rainfall in these districts.
IMD warning for residents
The alerts highlight that residents should be prepared for sudden intense showers in affected districts. The IMD has advised vigilance in areas prone to flooding or waterlogging.
