Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 5‑day rainfall forecast for Kerala with yellow alerts in specific districts indicating the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, officials said in the latest bulletin issued at 1:00 pm today.

Under the current forecast, yellow alerts- signalling isolated heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours, have been declared for the following districts on the specified dates:

  • April 4, 2026: Pathanamthitta, Idukki
  • April 5, 2026: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki

These warnings suggest that certain locales within these regions may experience intense, sudden downpours.

All other districts across Kerala are currently placed under a green alert, indicating low to moderate rainfall activity, with no immediate threat of severe weather.

Weather experts have emphasised that while the overall monsoon advance is still in its early phases.

With heavy rainfall possible in isolated pockets, authorities are urging residents, especially in landslide‑prone and flood‑vulnerable areas, to stay alert and take necessary precautions:
