Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala transport department has announced that tourist buses will continue to be painted in white colours. The new order prohibits multi-colored designs on these buses. The order also states that driving-school vehicles should be painted in specific colours. They will be required to have yellow colours painted on their front and rear. This new rule for driving-school vehicles will take effect from October 1.
The order does not affect two-wheeler driving vehicles. The decision follows consultations with tourist bus operators and driving school owners. This update also aligns with a 2019 High Court ruling that banned images and advertisements, including those of film stars, on bodies and windows of tourist buses. Taking this into account, the State Transport Authority decided to keep the buses white.
