Kottayam: Heavy rainfall has led to massive flooding in Mundakayam and Kanjirapally leaving the mountainside regions deeply affected. Rising water levels in Manimala river in Mundakayam caused flooding on the bypass road overnight, and there are reports of a landslide in the Koottickal, Kavali areas here.
In Kanjirapally, water from Chittarpuzha had flooded the Manimala road, making it impassable for small vehicles. By morning, the water levels have begun to go down, but the Anchilippa and 26th Mile Changalappalam were all waterlogged. In Edakkunnam, overflowing canals caused water to enter the yards of nearby homes. No major damage has been reported yet.
