
Thiruvananthapuram: Corporations and municipalities will appoint clean city managers to supervise waste management and conservation of natural resources in the respective localities in Kerala. The appointments to this gazetted rank will be carried out by giving promotions to health officers or via Public Service Commission.
The government has made liquid and solid waste management a major agenda of local self government bodies. As many as 44 clean city managers will be appointed under 6 corporations and a few municipalities in the state to ensure cities are free from waste. The decision to form new posts emerged as part of the launch of the reform, Unified Local Self Governance.
The eligibility of health inspectors in Grade II has been unified under the rules for Unified Local Self Government Cadre. The offices of the self government bodies functioning in different places in the district will be relocated to a single location. The employees will be able to obtain transfer to other departments.
