The Kerala State Information Commission has directed that detailed interview scores must be recorded and made available under RTI to prevent recruitment malpractice. The decision follows multiple complaints and irregularities reported in college appointments

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Information Commission has said that the marks given to candidates in interviews should be recorded in detail to prevent irregularities in recruitment.
If a candidate requests the credential list, as per law, the required details of the interview result are to be provided.
Chief Information Commissioner of Kerala Information Commission, A Abdul Hakkim released an order in relation to a petition on the appointment of an office assistant at St. Gregorios College, Kottarakkara.
The commission, which has settled two similar cases earlier, has suggested the government implement stricter conditions in all future employment appointments.
The rule is that all the columns in the score sheet should be filled by the interview board members. The Secretary of the General Administration Department should issue a circular to ensure strict compliance. The total marks obtained by the candidates in the interview should be recorded in the columns of the score sheet. In addition, the details should be kept under the Right to Information Act.
The commission in its reply clarified that all government, semi-government, public sector undertakings, universities, affiliated and aided colleges, schools and similar institutions should implement this directive.
Commission intervenes; Petitioner becomes assistant professor
A candidate who was denied the job of Assistant Professor at MG University got the job after the intervention of the Right to Information Commission. Pathanamthitta native Sreevrinda Nair approached the commission alleging irregularities in the appointment. The commission rejected the explanation of MG University that the interview board members only recorded the total marks without filling in the entire score sheet. Following the commission's recommendation, the petitioner was appointed as Assistant Professor creating a new post.
Punishment for information officer
The Commissioner initiated action to punish the Information Officer of St. Gregorios College, Kottarakkara for misleading the Commission by claiming that there was a non-existent score sheet and itemized accounts that were given to the petitioner.
