Thiruvananthapuram: The Education Department has announced the academic schedule for the 2025–26 academic year, including examination and holiday dates for schools across Kerala.

Onam examination and term break

The Onam examination in state-run schools will be conducted from August 20 to August 27.

Following the completion of the first term exams, schools will close for the Onam holidays on August 29 and will reopen on September 8.

Christmas examination and holidays

The Christmas examinations are scheduled from December 11 to December 18.

Schools will close for the Christmas holidays on December 19 and will reopen on December 29, after the 10-day break.

Plus Two practical and model exams

The Plus Two practical examinations will begin on January 22, 2026. The Plus One and Plus Two model examinations are scheduled from February 16 to 23.

Annual examination and summer vacation

The annual examinations for all classes will be conducted from March 2 to March 30. Following the exams, schools will close for the summer vacation on March 31.

Academic days for the year

According to the academic calendar released on Saturday, the Upper Primary section in public schools will have a total of 200 academic days, while High Schools will follow a schedule of 204 academic days. For the Lower Primary section, 198 academic days have been set for the academic year.
