Kochi/Kalpetta: Educational institutions in Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kasaragod, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts will remain closed on Friday following heavy rainfall across Kerala.
The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including anganwadis, schools, madrasas, tuition centres, special classes, and professional colleges.
However, residential schools and residential colleges in Wayanad and Kasaragod are exempt from the holiday. The Kasaragod District Collector clarified that pre-scheduled university and public examinations, as well as interviews, will be held as planned.
In Kozhikode district, the District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Vadakara and Thamarassery taluks. The order covers schools, madrasas, tuition centres, professional colleges, and anganwadis. However, institutions may conduct online classes if required.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
