
Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Kerala until October 27.
Thunderstorms, along with showers, are expected in various regions due to the influence of Cyclone Dana, which made landfall along the Odisha coast late Thursday.

On Friday, an orange alert was issued for the districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur. Meanwhile, a yellow alert is active for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
Restrictions
Considering the heavy rainfall, entry to the eco-tourism centres in Ponmudi, Kallar, and Mankayam has been restricted starting Friday.
Similarly, access to popular tourist spots such as Ilaveezhapoonchira and Illikkal Kallu is prohibited. Additionally, night travel on the Erattupetta-Vagamon road and in other hilly areas has also been banned.
Cyclone Dana: Over 5.84 lakh evacuated in Odisha
Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that approximately 5.84 lakh individuals have been evacuated to shelters in anticipation of the storm's impact.
Local officials, including Bhadrak’s assistant fisheries officer Sandeep Kumar Behera, confirmed that all fishing boats have been safely anchored. "Post-cyclone, when it is assessed, we will get to know the damages if any), and we will take action if needed...We will take action as per Government protocols..."
Flight and transport services disrupted
Flight operations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata have been significantly affected due to the cyclone's landfall. However, Prasanna Pradhan, the Airport Director at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, announced that services will resume earlier than expected.
Meanwhile, bus services at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Baramunda, Bhubaneswar, have also been disrupted, leaving many commuters stranded as they await the operation of transport services. (With inputs from Agencies)
