In a significant move towards enhancing accessibility, Kerala will replace traditional wheelchairs with battery-operated cars (Battery Operated Cart - B.O.C.) at railway stations. E-tenders for this initiative have been called in several locations, including Kannur, Vadakara, and Palakkad Junction. Additionally, tenders have been issued for stations in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Aluva within the Thiruvananthapuram division.

Current Implementation and Future Expansion
The battery-operated car system has already been successfully implemented at the Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kollam, and Kozhikode stations. This year, the Indian Railways has announced tenders for battery-operated cars across 316 stations nationwide, highlighting a commitment to improving accessibility and convenience for all passengers.
