Thiruvananthapuram: From September 1 onwards, Kerala PSC (Public Service Commission) exams conducted during school working days will begin at 7 in the morning. This decision follows the change in school timings. Currently, the exams begin at 7.15 am, which itself has been a challenge for many candidates, who have raised concerns about the timing.

On average, there are about 10 to 15 PSC exams conducted in the mornings each month. However, not all taluks have designated exam centres. As a result, candidates who receive centres in remote locations may face great difficulties. If they are to reach the centre on time, they may need to travel the previous day and find accommodation nearby. In many cases, there are no lodging facilities close to the exam centres. Furthermore, if the centres are located in interior areas, there may be no early morning bus services available.

PSC maintains a strict policy that candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall even if they are late by a single minute.

In light of these challenges, candidates are demanding alternatives such as conducting more exams on holidays, expanding online exams or scheduling exams on Sundays to resolve the crisis.
