A video of a newly elected Kerala panchayat member climbing into a well to thank a campaign aide has gone viral, drawing praise for grassroots politics.

Manjeri: Video showing a newly elected local body representative, Usman, thanking his friend by descending into a well has gone viral on social media. A.T. Usman of the Muslim League won the fourth ward of Muthanoor, Poochengal in Pulpatta Panchayat by 163 votes.
After the results, he went around the ward to meet voters and specifically looked for his friend Shihab, who was by his side during the door-to-door campaign.
Usman found Shihab drilling rigs inside a well along with his helper.
To thank him, Usman climbed down the deep well using a rope, hugged his friend and the worker before climbing back up.
After this, he continued greeting voters in the ward.
