Thiruvananthapuram: The search for 13-year-old Tasmeeth Tamsam, who went missing from Kazhakuttam on Tuesday morning, continues without a breakthrough. Tasmeeth was last seen disembarking at Nagercoil railway station and then reboarding the same Chennai-bound train. CCTV footage shows her leaving the train at Nagercoil, filling a bottle with water, and subsequently returning to continue her journey.
The investigation is currently focusing on the possibility that she may have reached Kanyakumari. The Kerala Police, Tamil Nadu Police, Railway Police, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) are all involved in extensive searches in and around Kanyakumari. Despite these efforts, the child has not yet been found.
Tasmeeth, daughter of Assam resident Anwar Hussain, was reported missing to the Kazhakkoottam police around 4 pm on Tuesday after her parents realised she was gone when they returned home for lunch. Earlier that morning, her parents had scolded her following an argument with her sisters.
The search began with a review of CCTV footage and other evidence, mainly focusing on railway stations. The parents have said that Tasmeeth only understands Assamese.
Initially, there was a suspicion that the girl might have travelled to Chennai to visit her elder brother. However, her brother, Wahid Hussain, has confirmed to Matrubhumi News that he is currently in Bengaluru and that she had neither visited him nor made any contact.
Earlier reports included a photograph taken by a fellow passenger on a train from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari, which showed the girl crying alone. Both the family and police have verified that the girl in the photograph is indeed Tasmeeth Tamsam, leading to a focused search effort in Kanyakumari. The police have requested anyone with information about the girl to contact 9497960113.
