Kozhikode: For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Indian Muslim League has decided to field its two sitting MPs E T Mohammed Basheer and M P Abdussamad Samadani once again. However, their seats will be swapped.

Samadani is currently the MP from Malappuram constituency and he will enter the poll fray from Ponnani in the upcoming general elections where Basheer is the present MP. Basheer, the former Education Minister, will fight elections from Malappuram.

Meanwhile, the League will not be given a third seat as it had demanded. However, the second main ally of the UDF will be reportedly compensated by an extra Rajya Sabha seat.

Out of the three Rajya Sabha seats from the State which will be vacant by June, one can be won by the UDF. So it will be offered to the League. At present P V Abdul Wahab is the lone Rajya Sabha MP from the party.

The UDF has already announced its candidates in Kollam and Kottayam seats where RSP sitting MP N K Premachandran and Francis George of Kerala Congress (J) will seek the people's mandate respectively.
