Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala local body by-election results continue to unfold, with the LDF emerging as the dominant force, winning 15 out of 28 contested wards, while the UDF has secured 12 seats. Independent candidates have won 3 wards, whereas the NDA has failed to secure a victory so far.
As the counting process nears completion, State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan confirmed that 65.83% of registered voters participated, with 38,919 voters casting their ballots. Initially, elections were scheduled in 30 wards, but two candidates were elected unopposed, leaving 28 wards up for polling.
The NDA had shown early leads in Chowannur’s Maanthoppu ward, but final results are yet to confirm a win. Meanwhile, UDF’s Abdul Jabbar is leading in Edakkulam East (Thiruvananthapuram), a closely contested ward.
The election results reflect LDF’s continued stronghold in Kerala’s local governance, while the UDF has made notable inroads in key areas. The BJP’s inability to secure a single win highlights the challenges the party faces in the state’s political landscape.
