Alappuzha: Police here on Friday nabbed five assailants who were involved in the murder of SDPI leader KS Shan. It is hinted that the five people were among the gang who hacked Shan.

According to reports, the five are RSS activists. Meanwhile, the police haven’t given any official confirmation regarding the arrest.

Earlier, there were reports on the arrest of Mannacherry native Athul who was directly involved in the murder. 

Apart from Athul, four others namely Jishnu, Abhimanyu, Vishnu and Sanad were held on Friday.
Meanwhile, the probe team arrested three others over charges of conspiracy behind the murder.

On December 18, Shan was brutally attacked while he was on his way back home.

He was on his way home when a car rammed into his bike and as he fell down, the assailants inflicted around 40 injuries on him leading to his death, police said.Shan succumbed to his injuries at a Kochi hospital around midnight, police said.

Hours later, BJP's OBC Morcha state secretary Renjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death by some assailants who barged into his house on Sunday morning.
