Railways introduce special trains and additional stops for Thirunavaya Magha Mahotsavam pilgrims.

Kozhikode: In connection with the Magha Mahotsavam at Thirunavaya in Malappuram district—often described as the Kumbh Mela of South India—the Railways have arranged a special train service and additional stoppages. A special train will operate from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Ernakulam South. In addition, special stops have been sanctioned at Kuttippuram for three trains.
- The Yog Nagari Rishikesh–Ernakulam Express Special (04360) (YNRK ERS SPL) will depart Rishikesh at 7 pm on Friday (January 30) and reach Ernakulam on Sunday (February 1) at 11.30 pm. The train will have stops at Kozhikode (5.08 pm), Tirur (5.44 pm) and Kuttippuram (6 pm).
- The Ernakulam-Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express Special (04359) will leave Ernakulam at 11 pm on Tuesday, February 3, and arrive at Rishikesh at 4.15 pm on Friday.
- The Varanasi–Ernakulam Express Special (04358) will depart Varanasi at 4.30 pm on January 30 and reach Ernakulam at 10 pm on Monday. The return service (04357) will leave Ernakulam at 8 pm on Tuesday, February 3.
Special stops at Kuttippuram
The following trains have been granted special stops at Kuttippuram station:
- Kochuveli (Thiruvananthapuram North)–Mangaluru Junction Antyodaya Express (16355) on January 31 at 3.34 am.
- Kannur–Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express (12081) on January 31 at 6.59 am.
- Chennai–Mangaluru Superfast Express (12685) on January 30 and 31 at 2.14 am.
