Kozhikode: The court has rejected the bail plea of the juveniles charged with the murder of Class 10 student Shahbaz in Thamarassery. The Kozhikode District Sessions Court considered the case. The verdict, which was reserved after hearing the bail plea the other day, was pronounced on Friday.
Six students have been accused in the case. As all the accused are minors, they are currently housed at the Juvenile Home in Vellimadukunnu. The arguments on the bail application were completed last Thursday.
The incident took place on February 28 in Thamarassery following an altercation and scuffle among students. Shahbaz sustained a serious head injury during the conflict and later died on March 1 while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
The clash broke out following a farewell event for Class 10 students from various schools who attended classes at the Tris Tuition Centre at the Thamarassery Vyapara Bhavan. The altercation escalated into violence involving students of Thamarassery GVHSS, Elettil School, and others including Shahbaz, who were not enrolled at either of these schools but were attending the tuition centre.
