The apex court has overturned the Patna High Court's March 19 order, directing the expelled JD(U) leader to surrender in connection with the 2025 murder case.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the bail granted to expelled Janata Dal (United) leader Anant Singh in the murder case of Dularchand Yadav, directing him to surrender before the authorities on or before December 1, 2026.
A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and PV Varale overturned the Patna High Court's March 19, 2026, order granting Singh bail, observing that the High Court had erred in its assessment by failing to adequately consider the nature of the offence and his criminal antecedents.
The Supreme Court's decision reverses the bail relief Singh secured earlier this year and requires him to return to custody by the deadline the apex court set. The case relates to the killing of Dularchand Yadav during the Bihar Assembly election campaign on October 30, 2025.
Singh was arrested on November 1, 2025, in connection with the case and was subsequently granted bail by the Patna High Court in March 2026.
The cancellation of bail follows a challenge to the High Court's order before the Supreme Court.
