Kochi: The Kerala High Court has upheld the victory of Muslim League leader Najeeb Kanthapuram from the Perinthalmanna constituency. On Thursday, the High Court rejected the petition of LDF candidate KP Muhammed Musthafa challenging Najeeb's victory. Justice CS Sudha presided over the case.
In the assembly election held in 2021, Najeeb won by a narrow margin of 38 votes in Perinthalmanna. In challenging Najeeb's victory, LDF candidate Musthafa argued that 348 postal votes were not counted, which influenced the result. He also claimed that he had secured 300 votes out of the 348 postal votes and therefore should be declared the winner from the constituency.
Rejecting his arguments, the High Court upheld the victory of Najeeb Kanthapuram, much to the relief of both the UDF and the Muslim League.
