New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the Kerala High Court order that called for consideration of giving affiliation to Kannur Medical College for the academic year 2020-21.

The order was pronounced out by the bench presided by Justice Arun Mishra based on a petition filed by the admission committee and students. The Supreme Court has also sent notices to all parties concerned including the Kannur Medical College.

The admission supervising committee told the apex court that the college has not implemented the order to refund the fees of students who took admission to the college in the academic year 2016-17. Advocates Jaydeep Gupta and CK Sasi represented the committee in court and the students were represented by Rakesh Basant.

Different courts are considering several petitions related to the refund of fees. The High Court had instructed to submit a bank guarantee of Rs 10 crore and documents of the 25 acres of land in which the campus is located. It was this order of the High Court that the Supreme Court stayed.
