Kochi: The Kerala High Court has dismissed a side petition filed by the survivor in the high-profile actress assault case seeking a police investigation into the alteration of the hash value of a memory card related to the controversial case. The petitioner requested the cancellation of an inquiry report submitted by the Principal Judge and urged the police to register an FIR and conduct a proper investigation under the supervision of an officer not below the rank of IG.
The high court now rejected both the requests.
Earlier, a forensic examination revealed that the hash value of the memory card had changed twice. Based on this finding, the High Court had previously instructed the trial court to investigate the matter.
The actress expressed concerns over her personal information present in the memory card, stating that its exposure could have major repercussions. She emphasised the need to ascertain how the hash value was altered, and argued that the investigation conducted by the trial court was unsatisfactory.
In her petition, the actress reiterated that the memory card contained private footage, expressing anxiety over the potential release of this material and calling for the identification of those behind the incident.
