Kochi: Kerala High Court on Monday stopped proceedings in a habeas corpus writ petition filed by a a 21-year-old woman claiming that her live-in partner has been unlawfully detained by her family.
The court ended proceedings after the detained girl expressed her wish to remain with her family and end her relationship with the petitioner.
Both girls, hailing from Malappuram, became friends while studying in Plus 2, and decided to leave their house after turning 18.
Later, both girls appeared before the Malappuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court based on a complaint received by Kondotty Police. After receiving a favourable verdict, both started living in a rented apartment in Ernakulam.
However, a petition was later moved in court by the 21-year old girl alleging that her partner had been kidnapped by her family.
