Thiruvananthapuram: In the backdrop of the Wayanad tragedy, the state government employees and teachers will pay five days' salary to the Chief Minister's relief fund as part of the salary challenge.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held that the government is not compelling this, but the good will of charity and humanity has led to such a decision.
CM’s statement came in the wake of the demand raised by the leaders of the organisations that there should be no forced collection of money.
The Chief Minister also said that the service organisations have generally accepted the government's request and that government employees and those working in public sector institutions besides aided schools and colleges will also participate in this.
Five days' salary can be paid as one lump sum from next month's salary. The amount can also be paid in instalments of one day in the next month and two days each in the following two months. Consent for the same should be given to the Heads of Institutions.
Further action will be taken through Service and Payroll Administrative Repository for Kerala (SPARK). The Chief Minister said that those who want to give more than five days can also do so.
