Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty has assured strict action against those responsible for the leak of question papers of the Christmas half-yearly Plus One Mathematics exam and the Class 10 English exam.
Sivankutty on Saturday stated that complaints have been filed with the Directorate of Public Education, DGP and the Cyber Cell regarding the issue.
"The leak of question papers on YouTube channels is a serious matter, and the culprits will be identified and brought to justice. The government is firm on not tolerating any compromise in the examination process. A meeting of senior officials from the Education Department will be convened to discuss the matter," he said.
The Minister also emphasized that the question papers would not have been leaked without the knowledge of those preparing and distributing it.
The question papers were leaked on a YouTube channel of a private online tuition platform a day before the examinations. The Plus One Mathematics exam took place on Thursday, and questions totaling 23 marks were reportedly shared through this platform late on Wednesday night.
The teachers revealed that the video discussing the exact order of the questions had been viewed by more than a lakh people. The incident came to the attention of authorities after students, through phones and WhatsApp groups, had started asking for answers to the leaked questions. In the Class 10 English exam held on Wednesday, 70% of the 80-mark questions were found to match those predicted on the online channel.
C Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director of Education, Kozhikode, filed complaints with the department and the police. He has requested action if any officials in the General Education Department are found to be involved in the leak.
