
Kochi: Kerala Central Zone Prisons DIG P Ajaykumar has addressed allegations surrounding his visit to meet Boby Chemmanur in Kakkanad District Jail. In a statement, Ajaykumar clarified that he was already familiar with Boby and met him during an official visit to investigate a complaint. The DIG explained that he interacted with Boby in the superintendent's room, with the superintendent present.
Ajaykumar stressed that he did not ask the superintendent for any illegal favours for Boby Chemmanur. He also clarified that his only concern was to inquire about Boby's health and well-being during the visit.

During the visit, two people, Balakrishnan and Abhilash, were present outside the prison and requested permission to get inside. The DIG stated that he did not know why their names were not recorded in the visitor register, adding that it was not his responsibility to ensure the entries were made.
Balakrishnan, a resident of Vadakkancherry, has close associations with several officials in the jail, while Abhilash is a businessman. The jail department is conducting further investigations to determine the nature of their visit and whether they were involved in meeting Boby Chemmanur.
