Thiruvananthapuram: A high-level meeting of senior police officers is being held today at the State Police Headquarters under the chairmanship of Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, marking his first such review since taking charge of the Home portfolio.
The meeting is likely to focus on assessing the law and order situation, internal security, and improving administrative coordination within the police force.
Earlier this week, veteran leader Ramesh Chennithala was officially assigned the Home portfolio, along with Vigilance, Fire and Rescue Services, Prisons, and Coir, as the Kerala government notified the allocation of cabinet responsibilities.
According to the notification, Chief Minister V D Satheesan will oversee key departments including Finance, Kerala Financial Corporation, Ports, Law, Pollution Control, Airports, Metro Rail and Railways.
Other major allocations include K Muraleedharan handling Health and Medical Education, including Ayush, Drugs Control and Devaswoms, while P K Kunhalikutty has been assigned Industries and Commerce along with start-ups, IT, Artificial Intelligence, mining and geology, and textiles.
Sunny Joseph will be in charge of Electricity, Environment, Parliamentary Affairs and ANERT, and A P Anilkumar will oversee Land Revenue, Survey, Land Records and Land Reforms.
Tourism and Culture, including the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), has been allotted to P C Vishnunadh, while M Liju will handle Co-operation and Excise. Roji M John has been given responsibility for Collegiate and Technical Education, Universities (excluding specialised institutions), NCC and ASAP.
T Siddique has been appointed Minister for Agriculture and allied sectors including Soil Survey and Conservation, Kerala Agricultural University and Warehousing Corporation. K A Thulasi will oversee departments relating to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes welfare.
Bindhu Krishna has been assigned Labour, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Milk Co-operatives, Women and Child Development, and the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
O J Janeesh will handle Sports, Youth Affairs, Zoos, Archaeology and Museums, while N Samsudheen will oversee General Education, Wakf and Hajj Pilgrimage, and Minority Welfare.
K M Shaji has been given charge of Panchayat and Rural Development, with P K Basheer heading the Public Works Department.
V E Abdul Gafoor will oversee Fisheries, Harbour Engineering and Social Justice, Mons Joseph will handle Irrigation, and Anoop Jacob has been assigned Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology.
Rounding off the cabinet, Shibu Baby John will take charge of Forests and Wildlife Protection, while C P John has been appointed Minister for Road Transport, Motor Vehicles and Water Transport.
