Kerala government approves 1,037 new Akshaya Centres to expand grassroots e-governance services.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has approved 1,037 new Akshaya Centres (Akshaya Kendra) across the state.
With the latest sanction, the total number of Akshaya Centres in Kerala will surpass 3,000, strengthening access to e-governance services at the grassroots level.
District-wise expansion
Kottayam district has been allotted the highest number of new Akshaya Centres at 114, while Palakkad has the lowest allocation with 42 centres.
In Thiruvananthapuram Corporation alone, 52 new Akshaya Centres will be opened.
In Malappuram district, where the Akshaya project was originally launched, 77 new entrepreneurs will be selected. Of these, eight positions are reserved for the Scheduled Caste category and two for the Scheduled Tribe category, in line with reservation norms.
Eligibility and selection process
Applicants must be between 18 and 50 years of age as of January 1, 2026. Candidates should possess entrepreneurial aptitude and social commitment. The minimum educational qualification is Plus Two or an undergraduate degree.
Entrepreneurs will be selected based on a rank list prepared after an examination and interview conducted following scrutiny of applications.
