Following the incident, he had been temporarily suspended from the Vanchiyoor Bar Association

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior advocate Bailin Das, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting junior lawyer Shamili Justine, was granted bail by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday. He had been in judicial custody for four days before his release.
The court heard detailed arguments on the bail application on Saturday, after which the order was reserved and pronounced on Monday.
The prosecution strongly opposed the bail, arguing that Das, being a lawyer, could influence witnesses. They also noted that the victim’s confidential statement had not yet been recorded.
The defence asserted that the case did not involve any sexual offence and that both parties had sustained injuries during the incident. A medical certificate was submitted to support this claim.
The alleged assault took place in Vanchiyoor, where Das reportedly attacked Shamili with a mop stick, causing injuries to her face and neck.
Following the incident, the Vanchiyoor Bar Association temporarily suspended Bailin Das.
