Thiruvananthapuram: KERAFED Managing Director has received Rs 25 lakh as advance for his salary by violating norms.
As per the rule, the advance of salary should be returned within three months. But the MD justified that the government has not fixed his salary so far.
The evidence which came into light also revealed that the KERAFED MD has been writing salary slips by himself and taking the amount as per his wish. It is reported that he has taken Rs 1 lakh as monthly salary without any approval from the authority. RTI documents also revealed that the KERAFED MD has been fixing the salary for himself without the government’s permission.
The salary bill clarifies that the advance is granted to the official with the approval of an executive committee which does not have a government representative.
According to Kerala Co-operative Societies act, advance salary should not be granted for more than three months. But violating this rule, KERAFED MD has been receiving an advance salary for more than 25 months. It is reported that he has been receiving over Rs 1 lakh salary as advance per month.
Though he did not repay the advance, the administrative officer continued to approve his request for an advance.
KERAFED MD is simplifying his illegal act as claiming that the government did not issue an order fixing his salary.
