Kerala students to move Supreme Court against HC verdict on KEAM rank list.

Thiruvananthapuram: Even as the state government has initiated engineering admission procedures, students from the Kerala syllabus plan to approach the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the High Court verdict on KEAM rank list preparation. The petition will be filed in the name of 10 students listed in the current rank list.
The petitioners will request an urgent hearing and immediate resolution of the case. They will demand that this year’s admissions be based solely on entrance examination marks, excluding Plus Two scores.
They will also urge the Court to eliminate the ongoing disputes between the central and Kerala syllabi in the rank list preparation and insist on adherence to the admission schedule prescribed by AICTE.
The primary grievance is that the present rank list does not ensure equal justice for students. “Admissions should be based on a rank list prepared using the new mark normalisation formula,” the students argue.
If legal barriers exist, they assert that admissions should be carried out solely on the basis of entrance examination scores.
The students claim a scientific formula can be implemented from next year to resolve such disputes. They point out that the current normalisation process has resulted in a drop of up to 27 marks for many, significantly affecting their ranks.
They allege the process is unscientific and demand immediate corrective measures.
