Kozhikode: Anakha Anil from Pathiyoor in Alappuzha has secured the top rank in the BPharm entrance examination of the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) 2025. After deciding to take a year-long break to fully concentrate on her entrance preparation, Anakha scored an outstanding 290 out of 300, earning her the top spot.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi, she said, "I was sure I'd be first or second," citing her high cut-off marks as a strong indicator of her performance. She attributes her success to her consistent hard work, disciplined study routine, and the unwavering encouragement of her family.

NEET preparation set the foundation

Anakha’s journey towards topping the KEAM exam began with her preparations for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). She had enrolled at the Pala Brilliant Study Centre, where she followed a rigorous study plan. Her efforts paid off with an All India Rank of 856 in NEET.

Although she did not undergo separate coaching for the BPharm entrance, the foundation she built during NEET preparation gave her the confidence to face KEAM.

Dreaming of joining the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College

Looking ahead, Anakha aims to join Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to pursue her medical ambitions. Her father, G. Anilkumar, works as a conductor with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), while her mother, Pramitha, is a senior clerk at Insurance Medical Services. Anakha also has a younger sister. She completed her schooling at Holy Mary Central School, Kayamkulam.

Key study tips for aspiring students

She advises students to avoid distractions and “focus on studies without wasting any time.” Anakha also recommends solving previous years’ question papers to strengthen preparation and understand the exam pattern thoroughly.

Her success in this repeat attempt is a reflection of her methodical preparation and unshakeable confidence.
