Kasaragod: A buoy system placed by National Institute of Ocean Technology under Ministry of Earth Sciences has gone missing from the Arabian sea since three days and a video showing Malayalam-speaking men on top of the equipment has surfaced. Reports linking to the incident and video have emerged and it suggests both are same.

The instrument placed for receiving cyclone and tsunami alerts and other weather updates was missing from the actual spot where it was placed. The incident came to light when weather station stopped receiving communication from it.

Since three days, authorities concerned were investigating about the missing buoy system and were focussing on Kannur and Kozhikode regions. However, as a social media post of a fisherman from Malappuram’s Tanur showcased Malayalam-speaking  people standing over the buoy, the authorities have alerted three coastal police stations in Parappanangadi, Elathur and Chaliyam. It is learnt that the men were fishermen.

The sensors of the buoy system is reportedly damaged. The apparatus is costly and is a national property, say reports.
