Thrissur: The former governing council members of the Karuvannur bank have disapproved former MP PK Biju’s claims that he was not a part of the investigation commission appointed by CPM for inquiring into the Karuvannur bank fraud.

As proof of their claims, the bank’ former governing council members have released the copy of a letter forwarded by CPM Thrissur secretary MM Varghese on July 6, 2021, seeking action against the members of the bank management, on the basis of the findings against them which were unravelled in the investigation carried out by PK Biju and PK Shajan.

In the letter, a week’s time was given to the party leadership to decide on whether to take action or let off the accused. An explanation was sought from them in either case. CPM state committee member PK Biju and district secretariat member PK Shajan were appointed by the district committee to investigate the corrupt practices and fraudulent transactions at the Karuvannur service cooperative bank.

The letter clearly states that the district secretariat meeting held in the presence of CPM state secretariat member Baby John on June 19, 2021 had approved the findings of PK Biju and PK Shajan. The governing council members of the bank who were accused of indulging in malpractices were all ousted; they were later added to the accused list of the Karuvannur bank scam as well.

It should be noted that Congress leader Anil Akkara had released a copy of the decision to appoint PK Biju and PK Shajan as the investigation commission members which was taken at the CPM district committee meeting held on December 24, 2019.
