Kochi:  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a notice to the CPM Thrissur District Secretary MM Varghese for the third consecutive time in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud.

Varghese's failure to present himself for questioning on the previous two occasions led to the issuance of the latest notice, which was dispatched by Tuesday evening, mandating his appearance on Wednesday. 

Varghese had expressed his intention to postpone his appearance until after the Lok Sabha elections. Disregarding Varghese's request, the investigating team sent another notice to ensure his compliance with the investigation. 

In a related development, the ED also recorded a statement from KS Suresh Kumar, the Chief Finance Officer of the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), regarding the Exalogic transaction.
