Kannur: The Akkare Kottiyoor Maha Siva Temple in Kannur, Kerala, opens annually for 27 days during the Kottiyoor Vysakha Mahotsavam festival, which falls in the months of May and June.

This festival is a significant event here, commemorating the site of Daksha Yaga, where Sati Devi immolated herself.

The temple remains closed for the rest of the year, except for this brief period when devotees offer prayers and participate in rituals.
