Four students from the Palayad campus of Kannur University are contesting local body elections as CPM candidates across Kannur, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.

Kannur: Four students from the Palayad campus of Kannur University are contesting in the local body elections across four districts, and all of them are candidates of the CPM. Three of the contestants are classmates pursuing their LLM: Anupriya Krishna, Ashrin Kalakkat and Aswathi Das. The fourth, Shivani Parambatt, is an LLB student. The first three, who are practising lawyers, have entered the electoral fray while continuing their higher studies and live together in a house near the Palayad campus. Aswathi and Ashrin completed their LLB from the Thiruvananthapuram Law Academy, where they served as SFI unit president and vice president, respectively.
Anupriya Krishna is contesting from Ward 11 of Alakode Grama Panchayat (Alakode Town) in Kannur district. Ashrin Kalakkat is contesting from Ward 11 of Irinjalakuda Municipality in Thrissur district and has previously served as SFI area secretary and chairperson of Thrissur Government College. Aswathi Das is contesting from Ward 6 of Kollengode Grama Panchayat in Palakkad district; she earlier served as SFI unit president at Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram and is now the vice president of the Peroorkada Area Committee. Meanwhile, LLB student Shivani Parambat is contesting from Ward 9 of Pulpatta Panchayat in Malappuram district.
