
Kannur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly requested details regarding the train fire incident that occurred at Kannur railway station on Thursday. Notably, this incident involved the same train where the recent arson attack took place. The NIA is currently investigating the earlier case as well.
The central agency is reportedly looking into whether both incidents have any connection. NIA is also trying to get clarity on events that happened today.
Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case over the matter.
A miscreant activity is suspected behind the incident and a forensic team has also reached the spot to investigate the incident. The CCTV visuals from the nearby points have been retrieved. The police reportedly have identified a person in the visual.
The incident occurred at 1:25 am on Thursday when the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train (16307) was stationed. Three fire department teams worked for hours to extinguish the fire, however, the coach was completely destroyed in the blaze.
