Kannur: The purported CCTV visual of the Kannur-Alappuzha executive train that was allegedly set ablaze in Kannur railway station in the wee hours of Thursday has emerged. The visuals reportedly are of CCTV cameras installed at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) nearby the station.

The CCTV visual that emerged is between the time frame from 1:04 am and 1:06 am. A person can be seen walking near the train. However, the visuals are not very clear.
Meanwhile, the authorities concerned noted the fire around 1:20 am. It may be noted that the Elathur arson attack happened on the same train.

Commenting on the CCTV visuals, the station superintendent said “The footage will assist us in understanding how the fire originated within the train. It is suspected that the fire was intentionally started from inside, eliminating the possibility of negligence on the part of railway authorities.”
The superintendent also ruled out chance of short circuit as the reason of the fire or burning waste in the proximity.
