Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has stated that a CBI investigation is unnecessary in the case of the death of Naveen Babu, who was the ADM of Kannur. The government stance is that the ongoing investigation is proceeding in the right direction, making a CBI probe unwarranted. Reports suggest that the government will inform the High Court of this stance on Friday.

The government has also assured that all concerns raised by Naveen Babu's family will be thoroughly addressed. Naveen Babu's wife had approached the High Court, claiming dissatisfaction with the police investigation and demanding a CBI probe. She suspected that Naveen Babu was murdered and hanged, and that a comprehensive investigation into the involvement of former Kannur District Panchayat president P P Divya in the incident was lacking. The High Court is set to consider this petition on Friday.

The police have stated that all possible information has been collected as part of the investigation. The government has reiterated its commitment to addressing all concerns raised by the family during the investigation. A report related to this will be submitted to the court on Friday. Based on the case diary and progress report of the investigation, the court will decide whether the case should be handed over to the CBI.

On the morning of October 16, Naveen Babu, a native of Malayalapuzha in Pathanamthitta, was found dead at his quarters in Kannur. He was preparing to return to his hometown after being appointed as Pathanamthitta ADM. It is alleged that a humiliating remark made by Divya, the then president of the Kannur District Panchayat, during a farewell ceremony organised by Naveen Babu’s colleagues, led to his suicide. Divya was later granted bail in the case.
