However, the university has maintained the suspension of four students—identified as Shyamjith, Shraddha, Abhijith K.V., and Archana—for breaching campus boundaries while their disciplinary actions were still active.

Under the terms laid down by the Syndicate, the 12 students will only be reinstated upon submitting a formal letter of apology. The decision arrived on the heels of large-scale protests spearheaded by the Students' Federation of India (SFI) on the university grounds since Monday morning, narrowly averting a planned hunger strike scheduled for the evening.

Despite the lifting of the suspensions, the academic fate of the students remains uncertain, with their eligibility to sit the upcoming examinations contingent upon a forthcoming ruling from the High Court.

The 16 students had been under suspension for over 60 days following a protest staged on August 13. Disciplinary action was initially initiated against them over allegations including the physical assault of Vice-Chancellor Dr Ciza Thomas.

While a single bench of the High Court had previously directed the university to permit the students to sit their examinations, the institution lodged an appeal against the order, citing insufficient attendance. Meanwhile, the affected students have separately petitioned the court seeking permission to appear for the assessments. The High Court is expected to deliver its verdict on the matter tomorrow.
