Mananthavady: Karnataka Forest Department has informed that the Belur Makhna, the wild tusker that trampled Wayanad native to death, will be driven back into the deeper woods.
In a meeting held on the last day, Karnataka assured that they will take necessary measures to prevent the elephant from entering the forest region in Kerala. The elephant, which is currently in the Karnataka forest region, is being closely monitored.
The tuskless male elephant was captured in Belur taluk of Hassan district on November 30, 2023, and translocated to the Bandipur Forest area. After more than two months, it entered the Wayanad district of Kerala. On February 10, a 47-year-old man, identified as Ajeesh, was trampled by the wild elephant near Mananthavady.
