Kochi: Revenue minister K Rajan said that strict action will be taken against those who receive bribe and encourage corruption. The minister made it clear in a meeting with the MLAs in Ernakulam district as part of the Vision and Mission scheme.

The officials should behave in a friendly manner to the public when they approach revenue offices for services. If the officials ask bribe for handling every file, they will have to face the music, the minister added. The Vision and Mission scheme was formed to make revenue department people-friendly and efficient.

Several officials in Fort Kochi RDO office were transferred the other day following allegations of corruption. Minister for Industries P Rajeev and opposition leader V D Satheesan appreciated K Rajan for this bold move.

The opinions and suggestions put forward by the MLAs will be recorded in a special dashboard at the Land Revenue Commissionerate. All 140 MLAs can enter the dashboard. The suggestions put forward by the MLAs and the actions initiated on the same can be viewed on the dashboard, the revenue minister informed.
