A 19-year-old from Japan, named Yushiro, has travelled to Kerala to visit the place where his parents got married. The young man crossed international borders to learn more about the wedding of his father and mother, which took place in Kumarakom 21 years ago.

The wedding of Hira and Chiaki, both natives of Japan, was held at Pallichira in Kumarakom. The locals of Kumarakom celebrated the wedding in a grand manner, and a local woman, known as "Pennamma," blessed the couple with sweets. During the couple’s visit to Kerala, PA Santhosh, a local man, helped them by providing a room for rent and acted as their guide for a week-and-a-half.

After becoming familiar with the local culture and people, the couple became determined to have their wedding in Kumarakom. About fifteen people from Japan arrived in Alappuzha, hired a houseboat for stay, and celebrated their wedding, providing food to nearly 200 guests, with a traditional feast (sadya) and payasam (a sweet dish).

Now, years later, Yushiro has returned to Kumarakom to see the place where his parents were married and relive those memories. He visited the wedding site, walked around the areas where the celebrations took place, and even met Santhosh, the son of Pennamma, who had guided his parents back then. Yushiro also saw the photos taken during his parents' wedding.

This is Yushiro's third visit to Kerala.
