Thiruvananthapuram: Along with other states in the country, Kerala also joined the Janata Curfew. The capital city Thiruvananthapuram witnessed deserted roads in Palayam, Statue, Pulimoodu, Kizhakkekotta and Secretariat premises which are usually busy areas. For the past one week, crowd in these regions were comparatively less due to the coronavirus outbreak. When Janata Curfew started on Sunday, the places became more empty.

Only those who left for emergency requirements are seen on the roads. Private vehicles also are rarely plying. Shops are closed but a few petrol pumps are functioning. Protesters and party workers who are common sights in front of the secretariat were not seen on Sunday. The district administration had directed the other day that the canteens in hospitals should function in order to avoid difficulties for patients.

The people of Thrissur, where the very first coronavirus positive case was reported, also are staying indoors. All temples under Cochin Devaswom Board are closed. Churches and mosques also remain closed. Over 6000 persons are home-quarantined and about 30 people are under observation in hospitals.

In Kochi, shops are closed and only very few private vehicles are seen on roads. Kochi Metro stopped service. In Kottayam, many believers are taking part in Holy Mass via online methods in order to be part of curfew by staying indoors.

Strict restrictions are imposed in Kasaragod as a few Coronavirus positive cases were reported recently. Very few vehicles are plying on roads and most of the shops are closed. Only goods carriers from Karnataka are allowed to pass through Thalappadi checkpost as part of restrictions. People of other districts also are cooperating with the Janata Curfew by not going out.
