Kozhikode: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new initiative to address the food concerns of diabetic passengers travelling on premium trains. Starting with Vande Bharat and Rajdhani trains, a special diabetic-friendly menu has been added to the existing food options.
Previously, IRCTC only offered vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal options on premium trains. Now, diabetic passengers can order specialised meals tailored to their dietary needs when booking their tickets.
Other special dietary options
Alongside the diabetic-friendly options, IRCTC has also introduced meals for Jain passengers. Jain food excludes root vegetables like tubers, aligning with the dietary restrictions of Jainism. This new menu aims to provide greater flexibility and cater to a wider variety of dietary needs.
