Thiruvananthapuram: CPM former state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s wife Vinodini lodged a complaint with the DGP requesting to verify the authenticity of media reports that she owns the iPhone gifted by Unitac MD Santhosh Eapen. She asked to technically examine if her SIM card was used in the controversial iPhone. She lodged the complaint along with her phone number.
The media had reported that a SIM card taken in the name of Vinodini was used in one of the five iPhones which was given by Santhosh Eapen as bribe for getting the contract of Wadakkanchery flat construction. Also reports said that Vinodini was served a notice to appear before Customs for interrogation. Following this, Vinodini approached the police.
She has stated in the complaint that the iPhone used by her was bought paying its price. She also has the bill of the same. The phone which is mentioned in the reports is not possessed by anyone of their family. The media reports disgraced her personally, it was stated.
Vinodini also stated in the complaint that she is willing to cooperate with the Customs investigation. But as the notice was not served, we cannot directly approach them. There is only one SIM in my name. So, it should be checked if this number was used in the controversial phone. The complaint has been handed over to the Cyber Cell for further probe.
