New Delhi: An investigation will be conducted regarding the creation of a WhatsApp group by Hindu IAS officers named ‘Mallu Hindu Officers,’ said Industries Minister P Rajeev. While speaking to reporters on Monday, he stated that the government views the matter seriously, as it is unbecoming for officers to form groups based on religion.

“The government will conduct an inquiry regarding this incident. There is a general code of conduct for public administration, and a detailed inspection will be carried out based on this. I will provide more information on this later,” he added.

It was reported that a group named ‘Mallu Hindu Officers’ was formed with senior IAS officer K. Gopalakrishnan as the admin. The group, which included members ranging from senior IAS officers to junior officials, quickly became controversial and was disbanded within hours. The officials reportedly claimed that the group was created solely for the purpose of sharing Diwali wishes, which they did. However, many members pointed out the impropriety of forming a group based on religion.

Meanwhile, K. Gopalakrishnan has lodged a complaint with the cyber cell, stating that his WhatsApp had been hacked. He also sent a message to the group members indicating that the group was created without his knowledge.
