Kollam, Kerala: A groundbreaking initiative in the Indian judicial system begins today with the launch of the country's first 24x7 online court. This new online court, located in Kollam, is set to transform how legal cases are handled by allowing round-the-clock access to the justice system.

Court to handle cheque bounce cases

It will primarily deal with cases related to cheque dishonour, filed under the Negotiable Instruments Act.These cases will be handled in the three Judicial First Class Courts and the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Kollam. The move is aimed at reducing the backlog of cases and providing faster legal solutions.

No paper filing; complete online process

One of the key features of this 24x7 online court is that there will be no physical paperwork. All case filings must be submitted through online forms available on the court's website. This digital-first approach allows cases to be filed at any time, day or night.

With the introduction of the online court, individuals can now access court services anytime, from anywhere. This eliminates the need for physical presence in the courtroom, making the entire judicial process more convenient and accessible.

Online hearings and paperless procedures

The new court eliminates the need for parties or their lawyers to appear in person. All hearings, arguments, and trials will take place online. Summons for accused individuals will be sent digitally to their respective police stations. Accused persons and their sureties can also file bail applications online and submit necessary documents for approval.

Easy e-payments and transparency

Court fees for filing cases or processing documents can be paid through secure e-payment methods. To ensure transparency, the online court has been designed to allow anyone to track the progress of a case. Lawyers, parties, and the public can easily access real-time updates and monitor ongoing proceedings.
