New Delhi: Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that ₹3,042 crore has been allocated for railway development in Kerala, which is double the amount granted during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) period. 

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, he stated that 35 railway stations in Kerala would be upgraded and 200 new Vande Bharat trains would be introduced across the country.

Vaishnaw added that 35 railway stations in Kerala would undergo redevelopment under the AMRUT project, with renovation work already in progress at several locations. The minister also noted that the Vande Bharat train service has received a positive response in Kerala, and the state’s request for additional trains will be considered. He assured that divisional managers would review the demand and provide further clarity.

Vaishnaw further stated that measures would be implemented to manage overcrowding on trains, ensuring better convenience for passengers.
